Harper's Ferry, Virginia

This beautiful landscape slowly reveals the war's destruction. The glass-plate process by which it was made yields tremendous detail, rewarding examinination by a magnifying glass. The buildings at left are the remaining hulls of the National Armory. This photograph is in nearly perfect condition, despite being over 125 years old. The area shown, now a national park, is now located in West Virginia - a state created by the Civil War.
