View on the Canal, in Richmond

The ruins of a great flour mill tower above the James River in this wonderful image. The lengthy exposure required causes the running river to flatten tranquilly, while a breeze stirs the nearly willow trees. Three figures pose atop the bridge, lending scale to the scene which was photographed in April 1865. Excellent condition.
Cost: SOLD.
